Andrea Brokenshire (AMB Fiber Art and Design) is a national and international award winning quilt artist and instructor from Round Rock, Texas. She specializes in appliquéd botanical quilts. Her love of sewing, fabric, color, and texture had been nurtured within her from an very early age. As one of five daughters, she started making apparel at age 5 which she continues to this day. In 1998 she was talked into making a quilt and found this form of art a perfect outlet of creative expression. Andrea quickly realized that her passion was appliqué. In 1999 She entered her first competition. After a catastrophic illness in 2005 she had a creative “epiphany” and in 2007 Andrea found her own voice of creative expression.
Andrea studied Zoology at Oregon State University. As a former biologist, Andrea draws her inspiration from the natural world.“I try to express the essence of a flower with fabric. The curve of a petal, the vibrancy of color and the diversity of flora to me is sexy... beautiful. For me, the creative process is a journey as essential as breathing. An expression of self. I am a professed technique junkie always try to push myself to learn new skills.”
