What does it mean to visibly leave an impression on someone else? currently on view at LVL3, begs the question with an exhibition that focuses on the collaborations of sixteen artists, each paired with another, to realize a piece. As I walked up the stairs into the darkened gallery of Alderman Exhibitions’ new loft space in an old warehouse on Randolph Street, I heard a long hissss and looked up to see a fuse burning in a shaky frame.  I had walked in on the screening of Long Fuse, 2012, by Robert Chase Heishman and Brendan Meara. Alderman Exhibitions is one of Chicago's favorite galleries and one of the city's most innovative. Recently Alderman relocated and renovated their new digs into a clean, sophisticated gallery space where they are presenting an exhibition of the artists they represent. Daniel Bauer's two photographs of a dust-laden tree and modern architecture are quiet standouts that draw the viewer in with their enigmatic questions.
