Stefan Eins grew up in Austria and has exhibited internationally since the 1970s. His exhibitions and installations have appeared in museums and galleries as well as in New York City nightclubs, parks and streets. In the 1970s and '80s, Eins was part of the collaborative artist group Colab, whose members included Kiki Smith and Tom Otterness. In 1978 he established the seminal Bronx art space, FASHION 時裝 MODA МОДА, a museum of science, art, technology, invention, and fantasy. At the space Eins presented artists and graffiti writers such as John Ahearn, Crash, Jane Dickson, Daze, Keith Haring, Jenny Holzer, Kenny Scharf and many others. He lives and works in New York.
Stefan Eins has been working in a variety of media including painting, collage, sculpture, and photography for over twenty years. For his project at MoMA PS1 in 2007, Eins presented a suite of digital photographs investigating phenomena and coincidences in the urban environment. Central to his process is the incorporation of scientific research and the highlighting of objets trouvés (found objects) in New York City, which the artist refers to as a re-invention of Dada practice. Using a combination of images, maps, and texts written in English, Russian, Spanish, and Chinese—the four most widely-spoken languages—Eins documents encounters and findings that challenge accepted perceptions of the world.
From March to May 2012, the Neuberger Museum in Purchase, NY, will host an exhibition about the Fashion Moda Store, which was organized by Eins and Jenny Holzer for documenta 7 in 1982, containing multiples and T-Shirts by Kiki Smith, Claes Oldenburg, Joseph Beuys, Tom Otterness, Keith Haring, Kenny Scharf, CRASH, A-1, and many more.

'BIONIC GROWTH' is the result of Eins' observations as to how liquids flow, mix, splash etc.. The physics of liquid formation correlate to the physics of biological processes. 'BIONIC GROWTH' here is the result of dripped green paint mixing with wet white paint.
As to '9.11' : the child being tied to the bomb correlates to the condition the passengers in the planes about to crash were in. The angle of the plane is a reminder of how it approached the second tower before it crashed into it. Stefan Eins added the two towers to the already existing cityscape in the image.
The 'Garbage Pail Kids' series was created in the 1980s, a brainchild of Topps consultants and Art Spiegelman. The first images were created by John Pound.
