Statement

Meredith Kooi (b. 1985, Chicago) is a visual/performance artist and arts writer based in Atlanta, GA. She is the editor for Radius, an experimental radio broadcast platform based in Chicago. She received her MA in Visual and Critical Studies from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and is currently pursuing an interdisciplinary studies Phd from the Graduate Institute of the Liberal Arts at Emory University where she teaches undergraduate courses in Visual Studies and Performance Studies. 

She has contributed art criticism to Bad at Sports (Chicago), BURNAWAY (Atlanta), and Temporary Art Review (St. Louis). Her academic publications include commentary in the DVD journal ASPECT: The Chronicle of New Media Art (2010), a chapter in Theorizing Visual Studies: Writing Through the Disciple (Routledge, 2013), and an article in the journal Jahrbuch Literatur und Medizin (2014). 

Her performance, sound, and visual work has recently been presented throughout Atlanta including at the High Museum of Art, MINT Gallery, The Goat Farm Arts Center, and at eyedrum, with forthcoming exhibitions at Mammal Gallery and The LOW Museum.
