A Soho favorite since 1923, Bar Italia is one of the few places in London to get a great cappuccino after 10pm. The small coffee bar is stocked with desserts, pastries and pizza, and while the coffee and food isn’t cheap—the atmosphere can’t be beat. Legend has it that John Logie Baird first demonstrated the television in a laboratory above the café in 1926, after years of (probably coffee-fueled) experimentation. Today, there are street-side tables for groups and the counter space is perfect for those wrapped up more in a good book—or exhibition catalogue—than conversation.
