This is 5 Questions. Each week, we send five questions to an artist featured in Under the Radar, our weekly email highlighting the best art on the ArtSlant network. This week we seek answers from Julius D. High.
What are you trying to communicate with your work?
My creative work communicates the significance of expanding upon perspective and valuing empathy. By highlighting these concepts, we are able to slowly assist in manifesting a world that is rooted upon inclusion and love.
What is an artist’s responsibility?
I believe that an artist’s responsibility is to channel various elements of personal interests into their work. They should be able to create out of curiosity and a yearning to understand.
Show us the greatest thing you ever made (art or not)?
Honestly, the greatest thing I have ever made is my poetry work. It is the perfect representation of how I view myself and the world around me. There is no better feeling than being in-tune with oneself.
Tell us about a work you want to make but never will:
I will make everything that ignites passion inside of my heart. I do not limit myself; I will do it all. Life is short.
Who are three artists we should know but probably don’t?
