This is 5 Questions. Each week, we send five questions to an artist featured in Under the Radar, our weekly email highlighting the best art on the ArtSlant network. This week we seek answers from Hagar Shaked.
What are you trying to communicate with your work?
The idea of constant search without being able to find it—that thing you are looking for but cannot name. I want to talk about things that we hide as the discovery of sexuality and intimacy. Our attachment to objects can often express what we are unable or not allowed to say.

What is an artist’s responsibility?
To express himself completely. To reveal the strangest thoughts in his head to allow another form of discourse to exist
Show us the greatest thing you ever made (art or not)?
A morning doodle I made for a former partner:
The text in Hebrew: “Pen on a napkin. Andy Warhol. Self portrait with a flower”
Tell us about a work you want to make but never will:
If there is such work, I haven’t figured out what it is yet.
