On Wednesday evening, Georgia Fee Resident, Ali Fitzgerald, presented the final of four workshops about visual storytelling. The workshop series took place at one of Paris’ most historic bookstores, Shakespeare and Company. Each week highlighted a theme that Ali demonstrated through her own and other storyteller’s work. The themes included: Relationships, The City, Memories, and
Emotions & Ambiance. After examining examples of how such subjects can be portrayed, Ali asked participants to move from theory to practice. She brought various exercises, asking participants to take pen to paper and create their own stories, moving from basic drawings to more complex drawings and ideas. The result was lots of creativity, lots of participant interaction, and lots of learning. Plus, it was great fun – and free!

There were at least ten people of all ages and nationalities at each workshop. Alienjoyed the series, and so did participants. On behalf of all of the participants, Ali Fitzgerald, the Georgia Fee Residency Committee, and ArtSlant, we would like to thank Shakespeare and Company for their generous support of the workshop series. We look forward to working with them again.
