This is 5 Questions. Each week, we send five questions to an artist featured in Under the Radar, our weekly email highlighting the best art on the ArtSlant network. This week we seek answers from Carolyn Frischling.
What are you trying to communicate with your work?
Right now, I want to make things that will last...meditative and contemplative objects...about things that are felt but not thought...mysteries, wonder, and love.

What is an artist’s responsibility?
In my opinion, an artist’s primary responsibility is to reinterpret for our times the recurring themes important to humankind. Some artists express this intuitively without having formally studied art.
Show us the greatest thing you ever made (art or not)?
Avvolgente | Enfolding, 76 x 55 x 46 cm, 30 x 22 x 18 in., Bianco Piastramarina, Origination: Cave Focolaccia, METAMORPHIC RESONANCE, Digital Stone Project Exhibition, Pietrasanta, Italy 2017
Tell us about a work you want to make but never will:
The only thing that would prevent me from making something is the high cost of making.
Who are three artists we should know but probably don’t?
