FAQ – Using the Calendar

Exhibits Map:

Our exhibitions map locates you and shows you the exhibitions in your area. To change your area, use the Location field in the Refine Box (more on that below) or drag the map to the area you want to visit. Just click on a pin to see details about the exhibition.

Don't see an exhibition you know is there? Add it to our database! 

  Key Venues designate the most popular exhibition venues, museums, and large commercial galleries.

  Blue pins designate venues with an upcoming opening. 

  Green pins designate venues with an ongoing exhibition.

  Yellow pins designate venues with an exhibition that is closing soon.

  Zoom using the + and - in the bottom right corner of the map or double-clicking the map. You can also zoom using pinching and scrolling like on any other Google map.


Exhibits List:

The exhibitions list shows you a list of exhibitions in your area. You can change the settings of the list by using the Refine Box. From the list view, you can:

  Write a Review: click to add your voice to the history of art. Anyone registered on ArtSlant can contribute criticism to the discourse on Contemporary Art.

  Add to Saved List: click to add to a previously saved list or to create a new list. Saved lists are perfect for organizing your weekends or keeping tabs on artists you like.


Refine box:

The Refine Box can be accessed by clicking  from the Exhibits Map or Exhibits List.

Key Venues designate the most popular exhibition venues, museums, and large commercial galleries.

Location sorts by city name, zip code, state or nation. The default location is nearby your current location.

Keyword allows you to sort by artist name, gallery, etc.

Tagged is where you can sort by genre, style, time period, etc.

Opening will give you a list of all upcoming openings in your search location, Closing soon, will show you all exhibitions that are about to close in the coming week.

Exhibitions provides a list of current exhibitions in your location.

Clear Search - to remove a sort filter, click on [clear] at the top of the list.



  Takes you to the exhibits map view of your list.

  Add to calendar will export the entire list as an .ics file. .ics can then be opened by most calendar apps and programs (google, yahoo, mozilla, outlook, iCal, etc.) and will automatically add the exported list to your calendar upon opening.
