Elizabeth Knowles (b. St. Louis Missouri)
Born into in a family of naturalists and scientists, Elizabeth Knowles grew up near St Louis, MO and then went on to receive her BA from Pomona College in Claremont, CA, and her MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Natural patterns inspire her work. Some are biological patterns on the cellular level of organisms. Others are geological patterns of earth's natural landscapes. Exploring similar patterns that recur progressively in differing scales, her work connects the dynamic qualities of landscapes and life forms, physiology and physics, death and detritus, growth and form.
She has created numerous art installations for the windows at Saks Fifth Avenue pairing her work with Donna Karan, Alexander McQueen, and Issey Miyake. She has been the recipient of numerous awards including grants from the Puffin Foundation, Miami Beach Cultural Council, E. D. Foundation, Artist's Space, Ludwig Vogelstein Foundation, The Millay Colony, Yaddo, and The Banff Centre.
Elizabeth Knowles is offering a wide variety of fine art prints for sale in the ArtSlant Salesroom (here).
