QMA benefit on behalf of the Rockaway Waterfront Alliance : Sunday, November 18, 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm, 2012
The storm hit us all pretty hard. In Queens, Rockaway was blasted by wind and flooded ocean-to-bay. You really have to go there to understand the extent of the damage. At the Queens Museum, we feel compelled to act. Over the last couple of years, we have gotten to know the Rockaway Waterfront Alliance. They are smart, committed, and on the Rockaway Peninsula for the long haul. The RWA has been working tirelessly during this crisis to help residents – bringing aid, digging out cars, beginning to mobilize for the future of the boardwalk.
On the 18th we will host a fundraiser and an open house to benefit RWA. I would like to invite you to an afternoon of activities featuring artists and local activists including performances, food and bar, film screenings, art making activities, tours, a silent auction and much more. Please tune in to our Facebook and Twitter feeds for continued updates.
All are welcome and no gift is too small or too big. RWA needs money to buy materials and to hire professional help. We have asked our artists, educators, partners and friends to donate their time, and on November 18 all QMA admissions and collected contributions will go to support the RWA.
