The locals have a strong local food tradition, plus the wine of Campania is consistently prize-winning. Archaeological sites are also nearby, as are many other villages, each with their own character. Pietraroia is situated about two hours north of Naples, making it possible to do daytrips or overnight trips to Naples, Caserta (home of the Caserta Palace), Pompeii, the Amalfi coast, and Benevento.</span></span></p> <p><span style="font-family:georgia,serif"><span style="font-size:18px">Summertime is the season for festivals where each village celebrates their local food traditions such as cheese or olive oil. For three weeks in June (3-24) a group of artists will populate the quaint streets of Nurri, a village on the beautiful island of Sardinia, Italy. The theme of the residency is Su Bixinau, or The Neighbourhood. We will work in an abandoned convent, full of atmospheric rooms, chapels, a cloister and a secret garden.
