“Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain, for I am the great and powerful OZ!” yelled the wizard in L. Frank Baum’s “The Wizard of Oz.” The Great Oz or the man behind the curtain turns out to be a humbug – a hoax or a jest, or as Dorothy says, “a very bad man,” in the classic movie.     The most successful work in Cantocore: Free on Board not only investigates the nuanced layers of trade and culture between Guangzhou and San Francisco, but also incorporates translation/mis-translation, authenticity/reproduction, and the copy-of-a-copy-of-a-translation spirit. Cantocore: Import/Export (2008) was originally curated for Ping Pong Space, a large warehouse space in Guangzhou, China.
