DESCRIPTION

Mixed Greens is thrilled to begin the season with Adia Millett's newest sculptures and photographs.

In her latest series, Millett crafts ten one-room rock and mud houses inspired by Southwest Native American housing and Celtic housing dating from as far back as 600 BC. While the exteriors are similar, each interior is a wildly different "space in-between".

Exploring the moments between consciousness and unconsciousness, sobriety and intoxication, wakefulness and sleep, living and death, each is the expression of a psychological space. Through the distortion of these ancient domestic spaces, Millett invites viewers to enter into traces of a dream, otherworldly places where reason is subverted by fantasy.
