IT’S (A)LIVE: BRAVE LIVE ARTS FROM LOS ANGELES is an amalgamation of artists who claim, write and redefine the real, constructed and imagined territories of Los Angeles.  The body, gender, race, sex(ualities), history and play are examined and celebrated through dance, movement, literature, storytelling and music.

This event was inspired by performance / live arts exhibitions in Los Angeles since the mid-1980’s, at venues such as L.A.C.E., Beyond Baroque, Onyx & Onyx II, Club Fuck!, Glaxa Studios, and countless temporary spaces and illegal nightclubs throughout pre-gentrifying Downtown.  IT’S (A)LIVE is also a response to our gradual reliance on the Internet – an arguably dehumanizing and “flattening” mechanism in our lives – making the experience of live performance that much more vital.
