About The Walking Gallery
Following in the tradition of experimental exhibition spaces, The Walking Gallery operates as a platform for both emerging and established artists to create, experiment, and share in an environment void of four walls. The Walking Gallery, founded by artists Kate Thomas and Chris Alday, launched it’s inaugural exhibition entitled, TEST RUN, in 2009 and has since become a familiar presence within the Pomona Arts Colony. Participation in The Walking Gallery is free and open to artists of all mediums, the only requirement being that the artist must be able to carry their own artwork for the duration of the event. Past shows have included works from painters, animators, illustrators, graphic designers, ceramicists, sculptors, quilters, photographers, performance artists and musicians. Currently, The Walking Gallery’s continuing exhibition schedule is as follows;
Unless noted, exhibitions are held from 8-9pm every second Saturday of the month in conjunction with the Pomona Art Colony’s Second Saturdays ArtWalk. Participating artists are asked to assemble on the corner of 3rd and Main just before 8pm. Beginning at the dA Center for the Arts and ending in front of The Glass House, The Walking Gallery exhibition route consists of three 20 minute stops allowing for dialogues between artist and viewer.
Artists interested in participating in any of our upcoming events should contact The Walking Gallery via FB for more information.
