DESCRIPTION

A salon style exhibition in Koplin Del Rio's Back Room Gallery.

Featuring a selection of available figurative life drawings by
Los Angeles artists completed during a bi-monthly drawing group held at Koplin Del Rio gallery.

Greetings,

It is with great pleasure that I announce the first Drawing Salon exhibition at Koplin Del Rio. Last July, I began hosting a bi-monthly figure drawing group meeting regularly at the gallery to draw uninstructed from alternating male and female models. The group is made up of a network of local LA artists, the core members being artists represented by the gallery, the group expanded to include their students, colleagues as well as patrons of the gallery. This debut exhibition is a showcase featuring a selection of drawings executed during sessions over the past year.

As Koplin Del Rio Gallery enters its 30th year in business and we continue to expand our program, we remain steadfast in our appreciation of the fundamentals of realist drawing and painting. This drawing group has been an opportunity for local artists from all levels, from emerging to well established, to work directly from the nude figure in the most inspiring of atmospheres. It is a communal atmosphere where artists connect, exchange ideas and continue to hone and exercise observational skills.

I invite you to visit the gallery to view the salon style exhibition in our back room gallery starting on Saturday, May 5th and concluding on Saturday, May 12th.  To highlight the creative process, there will be examples of finished drawings as well as gestural studies by over 20 different artists. This is a rare glimpse into the artist's studio and I hope you have the opportunity to visit and experience how different artists approach the human form with a variety of mediums and techniques including charcoal, graphite, ink wash, water color as well as silver point.
