Interactions: Armory Artists and Their Art
The exhibition Interactions: Armory Artists and Their Art opens at the Armory Center for the Art’s new warehouse space at 2948 E. Walnut Street, Pasadena, with a reception, Saturday, April 12, 3 - 9 p.m. The show will be on view April 13 through June 15, 2008. Interactions is an exhibition of work by the Armory’s Fellows, who are M.F.A. students or post graduates that teach in the Armory’s New Visions Field Trip Program. Artists included in the exhibition are Chelsea Dean, Asad Faulwell, Janice Gomez, Sergio Hernandez, Malisa Humphrey, Melissa Manful, Amy Mauck, Scott Sheldon, Carly Steward, and Andy Walker. The exhibition’s curator is Lorraine Cleary Dale, Director of Professional Development at the Armory.
Many of the artists in the exhibition are inspired by everyday life, and their themes range from exploring architectural and natural spaces to investigating biological structures. The works in this show will range from drawings, paintings, silk screen prints, photography, installations, performance and sculpture.
Interactions will be visited by elementary school classes, who will have the opportunity to hear the exhibiting artists present their work, and then give hands-on workshops related to the art they have seen.
