DESCRIPTION

Allen Ginsberg's photographic work on display  provides a rare glimpse into a generation of free expression and rebellious thinkers from the 1950's, including candid snapshots of his friends William S. Burroughs, Neal Cassady, Jack Kerouac as well as self-portraits. William S. Burroughs' works on paper and shotgun paintings push the artistic boundaries paralleling the spirit of both of their written work.

Artistic works of cultural icons Allen Ginsberg and William S. Burroughs will be featured at Th!nkArt Salon in conjunction with the premiere of the new film “William S. Burroughs: A Man Within” directed by Yony Leyser. Allen Ginsberg’s photogaphic work on display  provides a rare glimpse into a generation of free expression and rebellious thinkers from the 1950’s, including candid snapshots of his friends William S. Burroughs, Neal Cassady, Jack Kerouac as well as self-portraits. His photography, beautifully composed, also displays astute observations of the world he was emerged in and so vividly described in his seminal poem HOWL and other works.

Alongside Ginsberg’s work, are his closest friend and raconteur extraordinaire William S. Burroughs’ works on paper and shotgun paintings.  The transgressive author pushed all boundaries, including those in visual art.

Chicago-based poet, Kevin Coval, author of Everyday People will perform the poem “Howl” during the opening exhibition reception.
