Impermanence/Permanence

A Show of Collected and Uncollected Art

Gallery Ten 10 returns from its summer hiatus with a special show featuring the work of South Bay Artists.

The genesis of the show is rooted in Curator/Director Al Preciado's passion for the arts.  During the quiet of the Gallery's Summer hiatus, Preciado looked around his gallery-home and realized he had amassed a representative collection of who's who of South Bay Artists.

What better way to kick-off the Gallery's 2010-2011 Season than to showcase the art of artists that Preciado has collected over the years.

To round out the exhibition, Preciado decided to mix the best of his collection with the work of a few invited artists  who represent the works that "got away" or whose work  he's still hopeful of acquiring one day.

Opening Reception: October 9, 2010

Gallery Ten 10 is in its second year of providing an alternative art space to local artists. The gallery is dedicated to solo and group shows; poetry and prose readings; open mic and a community oriented drum circle. Receptions normally are held on the last Friday of every month and take the form of a potluck, exhibition and a chance to network: See old friends and make new ones.

Mission Statement:    Gallery Ten10 is a house for the intersection of the arts, centering on the visual, written and spoken word and music.  The artists are responsible for the facilitation of all aspects of presenting their creative context and the director provides the venue. The emphasis is on sharing, but selling is possible at the artist’s behest with all proceeds going to the artist. The director has the benefit of a changing beautiful environment and the fellowship of the arts loving community.

In addition, Preciado is an active board member of Works Gallery San Jose, and an long time Professor of Art at Bellarmine College Prep in San Jose.
