a flawed providence
As we in South Florida poise for the arrival of the toxins from the BP oil spill, many of the works in "a flawed providence" picture cities and environs that are already blighted and have been for a long time. Little has been done to avert disaster - the inevitable impact of the oil would seem to be more of the same - the results of inaction.
In the second half of the show, works suggest a cautious optimism; signs of determined goodwill, whimsical inventiveness, and savvy use of our technologically-enhanced interconnectedness may continue to stave off horrible fates. Or they may not.
