Richard Nagy has been dealing independently since 1980. He started the Dover Street Gallery in 1989.
Richard Nagy has specialised in the work of Egon Schiele and Gustav Klimt since 1984. The gallery also handles German Expressionism: Die Bruecke, and in particular Die Neue Sachlichkeit, as well as more recent British artists of a related sensibility like Spencer, Bacon and Freud. In addition, Symbolist artists such as Redon, Ensor and Kubin, are frequently available. The gallery also handles masters of modernist canons.
Nagy has exhibited Egon Schiele in Sydney, Australia, since 1988, in Paris in July 2000, and Brussels the same year.

In the autumn of 2010 he has opened a new space in Old Bond Street, London. The first exhibition Egon Schiele. Women opened in May 2011.
Richard Nagy has participated in art fairs throughout Europe and the USA including:
The International Fine Art & Antique Fair, New York, from 1998-2004; TEFAF, Maastricht, since 2001; Art Basel, Basel, since 2005; Pavilion of Art & Design, London, since 2009; as well as Salzburg, Vienna, Milan, Brussels and Sydney.
Richard Nagy has collaborated with Yves Macaux at the Biennale des Antiquaires, Paris, since 2006, and Design Fair Armory, New York, 2005-2007.
