Brighton Photo Fringe supports photographers and lens-based artists by creating platforms for and coordinating exhibitions that showcase the best of current photographic practice. Brighton Photo Fringe aims to embed photography into the cultural fabric of Brighton and Hove and the wider region, increasing access to and participation in high quality photographic exhibitions and events.

Every two years Brighton Photo Fringe coordinates a city-wide festival of exhibitions and events in partnership with Brighton Photo Biennial. In 2008 festival included 82 exhibitions, works by over 300 artists and had an audience of 45,000-50,000. This October Brighton Photo Fringe returns with its largest festival to date, including over 130 exhibitions and featuring works by over 400 artists.

An accompanying programme of networking events and workshops support and develop the community of participating photographic artists, and participative projects and exhibitions develop and increase both audience and exhibitors from communities who would not otherwise be able to engage. Brighton Photo Fringe promotes and supports cultural diversity in all its activities, and has built partnerships with Black and minority ethnic communities, disabled peoples’ art projects, drug and alcohol service user programmes and youth projects.
Brighton Photo Fringe is open to anyone who wants to take part.

Brighton Photo Fringe is supported by Brighton and Hove City Council and the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
