Jealous Needs You
This spring, Jealous Gallery & Print Studio showcases screenprints by over 40 new graphic artists in dedicated exhibition in Shoreditch and Crouch End.
Jealous Needs You (JNY) is back and bolder than ever. Established in 2011 and headed by illustrator and Jealous printmaker Jess Wilson, JNY is an ongoing project from Jealous Gallery & Print Studio that invites submissions of artworks with a graphic persuasion to make up a portfolio of new screenprint editions. This year, JNY has seen the Jealous Print Studio produce beautiful and diverse screenprints for over 40 artists, designers and illustrators.
After an open call for submissions, encouraging artists from all levels of experience and backgrounds to submit designs, the Jealous team carefully selected a range of designs that represent the talents of illustrators and artists who are making their mark at the moment. The designs are then produced as limited edition 2 or 3 colour screenprints, 50 x 50 cm, giving the artists the same constraints to work within.
The full range of Jealous Needs You works will be on display in the new Shoreditch gallery space in a specially dedicated exhibition from 19th February to 15th March, followed by a second exhibition at the Jealous Crouch End space (18th March – 12th April). All of the prints will be available to purchase at the affordable price of £75 each.
This year’s JNY portfolio includes a mix of established artists, such as Marion Deuchars, Carl Cashman, Rose Blake and Holly Wells, as well as international talent from the USA with Aaron Jupin and Tyler Spangler, and Massagon from Japan. There are also some exciting emerging artists making their stamp on this lively, varied and colourful portfolio of affordable graphic prints.
All are welcome to the Private View for ‘Jealous Needs You’ which will take place 6.30 – 9.30pm on Thursday 26th February at Jealous Gallery, 53 Curtain Road, EC2A 3PT.
