DESCRIPTION

Film director John Maybury joins us for this special lunch time talk with ICA Director Gregor Muir to discuss the changing shape and new directions of culture in the 21st century.

Maybury built his reputation as a visionary film maker during the 1980s when he produced a number of short films capturing the emergence of the London punk scene, before working as a set designer with Derek Jarman and making music videos, including Sinead O'Connor's music video Nothing Compares 2 U. This was followed by his first full length feature entitled Love is the Devil, a biopic on the life of Francis Bacon starring Derek Jacobi and Daniel Craig whereupon his ability to push the envelope of visual effects was critically recognised.

More recent films include The Jacket and The Edge of Love, featuring Sienna Miller, Cillian Murphy and Keira Knightley.
