As of April 2017, Alejandra von Hartz Gallery closed its location in Wynwood.

True to its goal of expanding the relationship and mutual exchange of globalized contemporary art, Alejandra von Hartz Gallery is pleased to present two solo exhibitions that bring together two artists that approach abstract painting from different perspectives.  An opening reception for the artists is scheduled for Friday 10, February 2012, from 6-9pm

The word painting transmits certain connotations that are often linked to the history and theory of applying paint to a surface. Yet to paint, as opposed to making a painting, can carry multiple meanings and approaches. One can paint with different materials that are not necessarily linked to the rules of painting.

Pachi Giustinian conceptual practice is rooted in constructing new “painting” methods, using the inherent qualities of paint, -- specifically chromatic and spatial orientation.

Giustinian manipulates the traditional "window" of the painted surface to correspond with her own filtration of the diverse visual stimuli that make up our experiential knowledge of the world. She abandons the surface and emphasizes the material qualities of paint itself. She allows us to delve into the sensory / sensual aspect of our experiences of objects, the architectures, and the spaces that define our existence.

Through the exploration of various non-traditional approaches to creating a new space, she is concerned with paint’s physical properties and its potential as a tool in sculpture. As paint separates itself from its conventional supports, it is liberated and corresponds freely with the way that light and color are modulated by our ever changing, subjective perception of things-in-the-world.

Giustinian holds a 2005 BFA in Visual Arts specialized in Painting from the I.U.N.A (Instituto Universitario Nacional del Arte), Buenos Aires, Argentina. She participated at “Watch the stars and from them learn”, solo show at Spinello Gallery, Miami, in 2010, and was a 2010/2011 resident at Legal Art - Live/Working residence program, Miami, FL.

She currently lives and works in Miami, Florida.

The works exhibited in her first solo show at the gallery, were produced during a year-long artist residency in Miami in 2011.
