From shoot to bud to flower to fruit, spring is a time of renewal and fertility. Buds unfold and point towards the warm, sensual summer season ahead, a fleeting moment of sweet-scented fullness before decay.
The Darling Buds of May was not only a well known and much loved TV series from the 1980s but is also a saying that refers to the appreciation of what is fresh and new. Darling Buds exhibits ten experimental artists: Sadie Hennessy, Matt Gee, Daniel Bourke, Melissa Henderson, Sian Griffiths, Sonja van Kerkhoff, Fiona Long, Grace Adam, Rhiannon Hunter, Tom Stanley working in diverse mediums at different stages in their careers. A collection of striking and thought-provoking works and workshops examining what the season of May encapsulates to the human sprit.

Free events, workshops and live art. Artist Rhiannon Hunter invites families and friends to create masks inspired by spring time nature to wear and enjoy. Tom Stanley creates collaborative graffiti art works in an open drop-in workshop inspired by the title Darling Buds.
Artist talk: Saturday 7th, 3:00pm – 4:00pm
Ask the exhibiting artists questions about their artworks and what inspires them from materiality to how aspects of the meaning of Darling Buds influence their own art practice.
