Concrete Ocean | Slinkachu
Andipa Contemporary is delighted to announce a new solo exhibition Concrete Ocean by renowned urban artist Slinkachu. The artist creates (and abandons) tiny installations around the city using reworked railway model figures, which he records photographically. A new departure for him has been to uproot the paving stones and tarmac of the streets creating urban islands to which the figures cling. The diminutive size of the figures belie the monumental appeal of the themes of alienation, survival and self-awareness. The images drive home that universal feeling of being inconsequential and insignificant in the context of the enormity of the city.
Concrete Ocean is the second solo exhibition of Slinkachu’s work to be shown at Andipa Gallery and follows Whatever Happened to the Men of Tomorrow (2009).
Andipa Gallery has been publishing Slinkachu’s work and representing the artist since 2008.
