DESCRIPTION

The Balfron Project is a large-scale photographic event taking place this Autumn at the Grade ll listed building, Balfron Tower, in Poplar. Led by Australian photographer Simon Terrill, the event will result in a spectacular, mural-sized photograph captured by a large format still camera. This final image will be exhibited at The Nunnery in January 2011, along with the accompanying research and related work. The Project will trace the connections between individuals, communities and the architecture they inhabit, providing a glimpse into the individual stories taking place within and around Balfron Tower, a stark symbol of urban utilitarianism.

Opening event: Thursday 6th January 2011, 6.30 – 9.30pm (as part of Time Out First Thursdays).

Symposium:                                       Thursday 20th January, 6.30 – 8.30pm

Simon Terrill and a guest panel of invited speakers will discuss the conception and undertaking of this ambitious project.

Exhibition open: Friday – Sunday from 1pm to 5pm
