Throughout his career\, German-Swiss artist Dieter Roth (1930-98) worked with obsessive energy\, his prolific output comprising in stallation\, sculpture\, drawing\, video\, assemblages and books. Much of h is work was a diary of sorts - a record of his relentless and impassioned e ngagement with life.

\n

The exhibition focuses on Roth's diaries with his personal writing as its central theme. These intimate books served as agendas and 'to do' lists as well as a place for the working through of ideas. They were a space to record appointments\, addresses\, lists and de adlines but also drawings\, photographs and poems.

\n

The show brings Roth’ s diaries to London for the first time as well as the hand-produced\, photo copied ‘copybooks’ he made from them and two major installation works.

\n

D ieter Roth: Diaries was organised by The Fruitmarket Gallery\, Edi nburgh in 2012 as part of the Edinburgh Art Festival and has been reconfigu red with additional works for Camden Arts Centre.
