Jessika Cardinahl: Ascension, artist reception.
Jessika Cardinahl speaks of a transcendental process in her art creation, opening other worlds through paint and subject and ascending to another plane of experience. Her work references relatable subject matter to draw viewers into worlds of their own. She has recently begun to interplay traditional forms with pop and décor sensibilities as a method of drawing us into the work and a commentary on consumer fascination of exotic and domestic nature iconography.
Jessika Cardinahl was born and raised in Hamburg, Germany, where she established herself as a film actress and commercial model. Following her early educational pursuits in graphic design at the Fachoberschule für Graphik und Gestaltung in Hamburg, she continued her studies at the Parson School of Design and at the U.C.L.A. School of Fine Art.
Jessika's artistic emphasis is in the application with large scale canvas and linen. She also employs the use of craft packing paper, large cardboard mattes and clear, unfinished wood veneer as the foundation for her artwork. Among her favorite mediums are oil colors, oil sticks, Kremer powder color pigments, charcoal and aquarelles.
