DESCRIPTION

On Sunday, January 10th, a solo exhibition by Jeff & Gordon – a collaboration between Jeff Foye and Gordon Winiemko – will open at HAUS with a preview reception for the artists from 4 to 7 p.m.

For this installation, Jeff & Gordon, inspired by the private / public nature of HAUS (both home and  gallery), humorously explore the breakdown between these increasingly borderless realms in society today. Filmed in the homes of associates of HAUS, their “Running with Scissors” video mocks the “real estate walk-through” that litters websites like YouTube, with the artists themselves interjected as disruptive elements. In “Party Pics,” Jeff and Gordon synthesized and documented a party where hired actors staged an artificial social scene in the gallery, mimicking the ubiquitous images found on facebook and flickr.

In the hallway of HAUS, a “sound piece” riffs on the commentary track now pervasive on DVD’s by assuming that the “movie” is superfluous and presenting only the anecdotal evidence of its production.

Jeff Foye and Gordon Winiemko now live and work in Los Angeles. Foye received his MFA in 2007 from Cal-State Long Beach, while Winiemko received his MFA also in 2007 from the University of California in Irvine. As a collaborative, they were included in various group exhibitions in the Los Angeles and San Francisco area. This will be their first solo exhibition.
