The Los Angeles Printmaking Society is once again sponsoring a print competition and exhibition open to printmakers in the US and Canada.  The juror is Archana Horsting, the Executive Director and co-founder of Kala Art Institute, a 30-year old non-profit organization that provides state-of-the-art studio space and equipment to working printmakers and digital artists.  She has served as a Site Visitor for the National Endowment for the Arts and as a panelist for the California Arts Council. LAPS is also pleased to have as our honoree Ynez Johnston and present highlights from her long and outstanding career in printmaking.

There will be a minimum of $3,000 in awards.  The last LAPS National garnered over $5,000 in prizes and purchase awards.  Most of the prize winning prints will become the property of major museums and collections in southern California.  An illustrated catalog will be published.  In addition, accepted artists will become full members of LAPS.  All print media are included, with the exception of traditional photography, off-set reproductions, or reproductions of art originally produced in another media.  The exhibition will run from September 15 to October 28, 2007, at the Riverside Art Museum, Riverside, California.
