DESCRIPTION

Steve Turner Contemporary presents THE DISTENDED HAND TRUCK AND OTHER CURIOSITIES, a solo exhibition by Joshua Callaghan featuring three new sculptures. Each of the works was previously a tool in the artist’s studio. In altering them, Callaghan transformed ordinary utilitarian objects into psychological abstractions.

Joshua Callaghan earned an MFA from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2005 and a BA in Cultural Anthropology from the University of North Carolina at Asheville, NC. His work has been exhibited at Haas & Fischer Gallery, Zurich; Bank Gallery, Los Angeles; Galleria Fortes Vilaça, São Paulo; the UC Riverside Sweeney Gallery; The Guggenheim Gallery of Chapman University; and LA Louver in Los Angeles. He has also completed a series of public projects in Southern California and New York City.  He is the recipient of a Fulbright Grant.

Steve Turner Contemporary is a contemporary art gallery based in Los Angeles that represents the work of emerging and established contemporary artists. Gallery hours: Wednesday–Saturday, 11– 6. Please contact the gallery for further information.
