Opening Reception with Beats by DJ Phyz Ed
During the Downtown Artwalk, Thursday, March 12th, 2009 from 6 pm to 9pm.
Downtown LA's Crewest Gallery is pleased to announce it's newest group art exhibition "Nat King Cole RE: GENERATIONS" which features original artworks from the new RE:GENERATIONS album CD booklet by known contemporary artists who have joined together with Capitol/EMI Records and the family of legendary Nat King Cole to bring you an exhibit which will "visually bridge the so-called generation gap and hopefully create mutual admiration and respect between teens, parents and grands of every culture," says Carole Cole, Nat King Coles daughter. Original artworks and limited-edition prints inspired by the music, style and cultural influence of Nat King Cole will be on display and available for sale throughout the month as well as the debut album itself.
Also, for all you art enthusiasts and fans, this exhibition will also include a one time reproduction of "Lye" an original piece created by the highly-regarded neo-expressionist/graffiti painter Jean-Michel Basquiat who once said, "every single line means something," Basquiat interview with Cathleen McGuigan, "New Art: New Money" New York Times Magazine, February 2005.
