DESCRIPTION
Paula Izydorek,  Resolution or Evolution: An Intimate Interpretation

For her first solo exhibition, Izydorek pays homage to and examines her innermost personal relationships, addressing the interconnectivity between two beings both physically and psychologically.  By pairing acrylic ink with birch wood, she employs complex intertwining linear systems and geometric forms that interplay with the woods surface.  Her work hypothesizes how might biochemical reactions, interpersonal conflict and cultural influences affect intimate relationships.

Emphasizing repetition and abstraction, Izydorek conceptualizes an intimate journey of two lovers impacted by their psychological influences.  Her series “Olo Co”, a ten panel narrative, begins with a rich red outline portraying a couple immersed in the euphoria of a kiss.  She then traces the initial red outline and transfers it from one wood panel to the next allowing the naturally occurring wood grain to interrupt and guide the placement of her “revised” red outline. This process symbolically represents environmental influences that impact the intimacy of the couple.  The geometric and linear patterning surrounding the couple serves as a visual field representing their interconnectivity as well as suggest their physiological state.

With her exhibition Resolution or Evolution: An Intimate Interpretation, Izydorek invites the viewer to personalize the outcome of the lovers’ journey;  to explore whether their interpersonal influences supported or dissolved their loving bond.
