Wilding Cran Gallery presents AT LAND, an evening of new performances by Lex Brown and Audra Wist, curated by Dana Eitches on Saturday, August 9 at 7pm. The backdrop to the performances will be Wilding Cran's current show featuring selected works from their roster of artists and introducing the work of Jason McLean to the gallery.
About Lex Brown
Lex Brown's work is propelled by mythology, honesty, desire, humor, fiction, crisis, and the less mystical but much sexier theme of "identity." She creates performances, videos, writings, and sculptures in order to get a little bit closer to something real: in her, in you, in the things people share, and in the things people don't share. Brown received her B.A. from Princeton University in 2012. She is a member of the 2012 class of Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, and in 2013 was the lead art teacher and workshop coordinator at Thomas Hirschhorn's Gramsci Monument in the Bronx, NY. Her essays have been published by KCET, the Columbia Journal of Literary Criticism, and Dia Art Foundation.
About Audra Wist
Audra Wist explores the extremes and paradoxes that exist in pop culture, especially as they deal with the complicated narratives of female supremacy and vulnerability. Drawing from her involvement in the BDSM community, her photography, performance, sculpture, and video confront the issues of entropy and psychology that tether fetish to the wider culture that seeks to suppress it. She studied at Carnegie Mellon University and Yale Norfolk and is currently an MFA candidate at University of California, Los Angeles.
About Dana Eitches
Dana Eitches received her B.A. in Art and Archaeology from Princeton University and is currently pursuing her MFA in Curating at Goldsmiths, University of London.
