DESCRIPTION

at deb3321 NICK BROWN ART STUDIO

Nick will provide insightful comments, suggesting direction or experimentation possibilities. You will have a one on one with Nick throughout these sessions. 

The classes present discussions and critiques that focus on intention, subject matter, and context. Instruction may include lectures on contemporary painting and discussion of conceptual strategies and studio practices. You will be encouraged to investigate new ways of thinking, broaden your range of materials and techniques, and create work that is self-reflective and ambitious in scope.

Nick received his MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and has taught at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY and currently teaches in the Department of the Arts at the UCLA Extension program in Los Angeles. Brown's work has been shown at The Drawing Center, NY, NY; P.S. 122, NY, NY; The Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, IL; The Chicago Cultural Center, Chicago, IL; as well as at galleries, both nationally and internationally. Nick's site:  http://www.nickbrownart.net.

Six classes Wednesdays, 7-10pm: March 5, 12, 19, 26; April 2, 9.  Please note, since this is studio, you may sign-up for the sessions after the start date.  Fee will be based on the number of sessions left in the sequence. 

Open to all 2 dimensional work (painting [acrylic, oil], drawing, collage, etc.) and small 3-D. You are required to furnish your own supplies.  You may not leave your work nor supplies at the studio, sorry.
