Masks of Sanity:  Featuring the Art of Scott Rohlfs

February 4 – March 1, 2014
Reception: Saturday, February 8, 2014 from 6-10pm

ArtHatch and Distinction Gallery are excited to present an extraordinary solo exhibition featuring the artwork of Scott Rohlfs. This exhibit will highlight Rohlfs’ most current paintings focusing on surreal imagery and the female figure. Rohlfs will be in attendance at the Opening Reception to meet, greet and answer questions. The Opening Reception with Live Music will be held on Saturday, February 8 from 6-10pm. Local artists within the ArtHatch building will have their studios open to the public as well. Complimentary Stone beer and wine will be served to guests.

The women who populate Scott Rohlfs' acrylic paintings are a fusion of the artist's personal experiences and influences. His women exist in a realm of moody atmospheres, tattoo-inspired couture and pop cultural elements. Rohlfs combines classic realism with an element of distortion when painting, resulting in surreal imagery. The eyes of his subjects are often the focal points of his work, imbued with an arresting quality. Rohlfs describes his figures as, "a reflection of myself and whatever mood I am in at the time." Rohlfs produces a great amount of work and has sold hundreds of paintings throughout the US and abroad.

The exhibition will run from February 4 – March 1, 2013

ArtHatch is a 7000 square foot building which houses the front gallery: exhibitions changing monthly, "The Alley," featuring new and previous works from over 75 artists, the teen room featuring artwork by 6 local teens, 14 artist studios, ranging in size from 150 to 800 square feet, featuring the work of over 28 local artists, and "The Lounge", containing 8 walls featuring local artists.
