“I’m strangely comfortable with it.”
Strange Comfort is just that, it is a show that is meant to solicit and conjure a connection
that imparts a creative feeling of emotional stability. It taps into the creativity of the
viewer and conveys a look into a different world. The choice of artists could not be more
diverse but the one true facet that weaves them together is the strange comfort their
The work presents possibility and affirmation, some through personal introspection
while others are responding to current times. The spectator and artist share common
experiences that shape their ability to transform themselves from one situation, or one
piece of art to the next.
from 5 pm to 9 pm at the dA Center for Arts in Pomona is a new
from 6 – 9 pm.
Both monumental and intimate in scale, the exhibits encompassing sculptures,
installations, paintings and drawings, are playful and provocative, transforming familiar
items into exquisite works of art.
Out of the ordinary everyday icons of our modern world one can find a deeper meaning,
infused with the uniqueness of our own beliefs, understanding and preconceptions. And
often enough, you end up finding the past in the modern, bringing a sense of comfort
within its strangeness.
Each artist will create an immersive experience in a separate part of the gallery soliciting
a response from the viewer, enticing them to touch, feeling a longing to be near it and
reveling in the feelings coursing through their veins. Strange Comfort is meant to evoke a
strange comfortable feeling capitalizing on the psychology of human nature begging you
back to take a closer look while looking around to see who is watching you.
