A Dream I Dreamed
Museum of Contemporary Art, Shanghai (MoCA Shanghai) will be bringing the tour exhibition ‘A Dream I Dreamed ’from the ‘Contemporary Art Queen ’ Kusama Yayoi to Shanghai at the end of 2013, for its first large scale public appearance in China. With her international reputation, the Japanese artist Kusama Yayoi’s pieces have been collected and treasured in more than 100 museums and art institutions all over the world.
The exhibition will include the most representative pieces of Kusama Yayoi as well as her work in recent years, as an effort to take a closer look at her art career and show the exuberant creativity of Kusama Yayoi to the audience.
A dream I dreamed---Yayoi Kusama Solo Exhibition is Yayoi Kusama's first Asia tour exhibition which covers her most recent works and Museum of Contemporary Art, Shanghai (MoCA Shanghai) is very honoured to hold this exhibition in mainland China.
Yayoi Kusama, born in Nagano, 1929, is now acknowledged as one of the most important living artists in Japan and one of the most important contemporary artists in the world. Not only are her works highly appreciated as classics by contemporary arts circle, but loved by common audience. Her works have been exhibited constantly around the world and collected by more than 100 art museums around the world.
It is a great honor for MoCA, Shanghai to present this great contemporary artists' works to Chinese audience. This exhibition is quite inclusive of her representative works as well as her recent ones. It is an exhibition that actually demonstrates Yayoi Kusama's vigorous creativity throughout her life of arts. MoCA, Shanghai, therefore, hopes that audience could be able to enjoy a wonderful world of Yayoi Kusama's art through this exhibition, and with the help of her great works, audience could experience contemporary art in an even deeper and more profound way.
