Dancing Is An Object: Workshop (October 5)
This class explores dancing over aspects of performativity and objecthood. Starting from certain somatic practices engaging energies and voids the class explores modes of dancing where subjectivity is bypassed, over written, blurred or confiscated. It seeks to reveal capacities of the body that escape identity, recognition and service towards a dance that is, that exists rather than takes place.
The class consists predominantly of dancing and moving but will also contain more lecture like parts. however no previous orientation in philosophy or aesthetics is necessary. Conversations will further point out the political and social background to the relevance of the practice.
