DESCRIPTION

Kirk Pedersen: The Urban Asia Series and the Evolution of Zero+ Publishing, tells the story of how artist, teacher and gallery director Kirk Pedersen went from publishing a monograph of his own photographs in 2009 to founding and directing an art book publishing company, Zero+ Publishing. Many of Zero+'s titles are published in limited Deluxe Artist Boxed Editions in collaboration with the artist, which are in and of themselves fascinating works of art.

Included in the exhibition are images from Pedersen's Urban Asia series, a collection of urban photographs taken throughout many Asian countries from 2005 to 2009. Pedersen examines the seemingly ordinary stuff of life- sidewalks, curbs, markets, alleys, and, through his eye for synchronicity, reveals new truths about the world around us. Nearly 200 of the images are reproduced in two 160 page monographs titled Urban Asia and Tradeoffs. The exhibition will aslo feature a number of Deluxe Artist Boxed Editions created by ZERO+ Publishing.

Also included is an exhibition of small artwork by the published artists including: Above, Lisa Adams, Jeff Alu, Fatemeh Burnes, Roman Cho & Tatiana Wills, Cryptik, Craig Deines, Michael Falzone, Blaine Fontana, Lawrence Gipe, Wendell Gladstone, Mercedes Helnwein, Andrew Hem, Yumiko Kayukawa, Nathan Ota, Shark Toof, Joseph Stein, Sage Vaughn, Mark Dean Veca & Mark Whalen.

Pedersen will give a lecture and slideshow about the exhibition at the closing reception on Sunday, November 24 at 3pm.
