DESCRIPTION

Signs signify otherness and are always in relation to another entity that has significance, meaning or importance. This exhibition features the work of both Sant Khalsa and Thomas McGovern who use documentary photography to critique and celebrate signs and signage in our communities.

Khalsa comments on the essential element of water and its commodization. In contrast, McGovern captures hand painted signs that signify cultural and practical purposes for local businesses. Together they raise interesting questions about the importance of signs and what they point to.
