DESCRIPTION

M+B is pleased to announce APPARATUS, a group exhibition curated by Tim Barber. The exhibition will be on view from July 11 through August 31, 2013, with an opening reception for the artists onThursday, July 11 from 6 to 8 pm.

Apparatus is a group exhibition, curated by Tim Barber, that brings together an eclectic mix of artworks that deal in some form with the human form. That form, our form, is represented in a multitude of ways: as gesture, as icon, as idol, as Eros, as object, as abstraction, as tool, as mirror, as fantasy, as self, as joke, as real, as fake. An apparatus is a set of materials or equipment designed for a particular use. The word can also be used to describe the body, and the inner-workings of the body-anatomical or cytological parts functioning together. We are each an apparatus, built out of apparatuses, down to the cellular level. As a group, this collection of artworks forms a new kind of apparatus, one who's designated use changes with each new set of eyes.
