DESCRIPTION

Dr. William J. Havlicek, Van Gogh author, artist and professor of art history at Laguna College of Art and Design, will present a unique audio-visual lecture on the home lives and legendary works of five European masters: Monet, Matisse, Cezanne, Rembrandt and Hals. Included will be original photos and film of:  Monet’s famous home in Giverny with his flower and water gardens; Matisse’s final project--his remarkable Chapel in Vence--and reflections on his last years; an introduction to Aix-en-Provence, home of Paul Cezanne and the sites, home and studio of this Post-Impressionist master; Rembrandt’s home in Amsterdam and key works by the master; and the great civic group portraits and legacy of Frans Hals highlighting the Golden Age of Dutch domestic genre painting in the 17th century.
