The Artist is Not Present
The Finissage Event for The Unfinished

Friday, June 24, 2011
Greene Park Gallery is pleased to announce the closing event for the exhibition, The Unfinished, a group show featuring works by Ricardo Rivera, Aaron GM, and Christy Roberts.
"The Unfinished" is comprised of works exploring the creative potential that exists within the gaps of the production process. Recognizing the parallel between the interstices of art and traditional production, with an eye toward Beuys's aspiration to regenerate the life of humankind within the body of society, artists will exhibit works which explore the gaps within their own process and allow viewers to witness or access the moments of greatest creative potential.
Renowned artist and theoretician Warren Neidich will be moderating a discussion with the artists from the show while facilitating the introduction of a fourth work by an anonymous artist.  This piece will intervene in the exhibition as a point of departure for an exciting exploration and recontextualization of the show concept and the artists' reactions/interactions with it.
Warren Neidich is the recipient of the Vilem Flusser Theory Award, 2010, The Fulbright Specialist Program, and the Macdowel Foundation Fellowship, 2010 and has been has been exhibited internationally at such institutions as the Whitney Museum of American Art, PS 1 MOMA, LACMA, Museum Ludwig, Koln and the ICA-London. He will exhibit his American History Reinvented at Galerie Moriarty, Madrid, Spain as part of Foto Espana, 2011. He recently co-authored Cognitive Architecture: From Biopolitics to Noo- politics, and is former artist-in-residence at Goldsmith College London in the Department of Fine Arts and the Center for Culture, Computation and Cognition.

Greene Park Gallery is a roving gallery project, based on the ethos that art ideas and communities need not form in a fixed geographic location. By centering each exhibition on the creative ideas and consensus naturally occurring amongst artists, the gallery can optimize the transmission and experience of creative expression.
The event will be held at 943 N. Hill Street, Los Angeles, California

We look forward to seeing you!
