DESCRIPTION

The Brand Library Art Galleries is thrilled to present West Coast Mud Slingers, an all-ceramics exhibition curated by Ricky Maldonado.

On view: July 30 – September 9, 2011

Reception: Saturday, July 30, 6-9 pm

This exhibition features the work of Kelly Berning, Trent Berning, Nina Kellogg, Ricky Maldonado, Adrian Sandstrom, and Fred Yokel, and is a showcase for the technical and stylistic variety employed by contemporary ceramicists. While the work is varied, each of these artists describes a passionate relationship with clay that began when they first encountered the material, and that endures and drives them to continue innovating and creating in their favorite medium.

Curator Ricky Maldonado chose these artists to represent West Coast ceramics based on his long personal and professional associations with them: “I have watched each of them grow. They have chosen their own paths and move fearlessly, always taking risks as they go. They have ignored the judgments of others, always staying true to their inner artistic voices.” The work of these accomplished artists inspires and compels him to continue to grow and explore in his own clay work.
