Rebecca Lowry - Winter Wear
Six years on, the country is still dealing with effects of the housing market bubble and its resultant crisis, a situation greatly exacerbated by faulty financing. In this show, Lowry addresses the conflict of house as commodity versus home as both physical and emotional shelter, using real estate’s concomitant financial and legal documents as a medium for constructing winter garments.
“The ongoing housing situation has profoundly affected so many people and is so rich with conflicting ideas – I’m surprised more artists aren’t addressing it in their work…”
